Who We Are

Ditecpesa is a company dedicated to developing, manufacturing and selling asphalt products.

The technology, supply capacity and quality of our services, together with the expansion of our range of products and conducting research projects have enabled our company to grow. We currently have a 10% market share in Spain and supply to customers in other countries, such as the United Kingdom.

Of all the projects we have completed, we manufacture pavement for airports (Madrid Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport), race tracks (DR7, Cuenca) and highways throughout Spain.

Two of our biggest challenges included supplying 100,000 tonnes of asphalt products for the Ocaña-La Roda highway and 75,000 tonnes for Radial 4.

Quality is important to us, which is why we run Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP) binder characterization evaluations on our products. Thanks to this, we have obtained the ISO 9001 certificate for our design and manufacturing of modified and emulsion bitumen.

History of Ditecpesa

In 1988, instead of buying asphalt products, Ferrovial started producing them. First, through our subsidiary Tecpresa and —since 1993 — through Ditecpesa.

In 1991, we finalized construction of the Alicante Terminal, one our largest assets due to its strategic location. Later, in 1996, we incorporated the Gijón Terminal (expanded in 2009) to meet demands in the northern part of the Iberian Peninsula. Between 1995 and 1997, we also expanded our capacity with two mobile plants, one to manufacture modified bitumen with polymers and another for asphalt emulsions. Since 1997 we have been manufacturers and sellers with a high technological profile.

After years of hard work, we received the ISO 9001 certification in 1999 (for our quality management system), which preceded the ISO 140001 (an environmental certificate), OSHAS 18001 (an occupational health and safety management certificate), and ISO 50001 (an energy efficiency certificate).

In 2000 we opened our current asphalt and pavement binder laboratory. We also installed our office in the center of Alcalá, opened a branch in Portugal and began participating in Fénix, the largest research project carried out by consortium.

In 2016, our investment in R&D resulted in the creation of a hybrid bitumen made of traditional SBS polymers and pneumatic powder. That same year we applied modified bitumen to a race circuit and introduced a new bitumen that was resistant to cold, ice and salt: Extreme Temperature Bitumen (BCE).

And, in 2017, we collaborated with MIT, who allowed us to participate in a research project to develop bitumen for asphalt pavements on a nanoscale.

In the future, we will continue to invest in innovation as one of our hallmarks, with the goal of achieving new asphalt mixtures that improve driving safety and reduce the environmental impact of our infrastructures.
